When I'm stressed and out of ideas, I just lie in bed with my headphones on and listen to Odetari's music. His music is incredible, why not try it? It might give you some inspiration.

Oh, another thing, it's okay to want to stand out, but you're not perfect, no one is. Do something with your style, something you like, not something others like.

I've been doing the same thing but with Owl City music. And yeah, I get that! I've always tried to stand out with my music because I have always been very in touch with music, since age 11, when I started using DAWs and stuff to actually roduce music. I'm glad you wanted to give helpful feedback, and I'll check out Odetari. I also listen to the AOT OST too because I make orchestral music sometimes, and that helps give me ideas.

Saw your post and thought I'd reply, I actually understand this feeling being the head of a comic project I'm author of

I know the pain of being a perfectionist and not being pleased with anything you create because "You can always do better" which is true one always can improve but you don't learn how to improve unless we do something you're not pleased with, Trial and error is my mindset when I stress myself out over stuff like that, I suggest taking a break mentally from it even if you don't feel like you want to or need it because it will help

Thanks for the reply! Yeah, I thought that taking a break for a little bit would allow my brain to recharge with all the ideas I'm usually able to just throw out. My mind hyper focuses when it comes to music and a lot of things just come really easily. Lately, it's just kind of been stumping me. But thank you! Your reply really helps! I'm not alone in this :))

Hope you're feeling better soon DiceyStep. Overwork/Burnout's a horrible thing and like what @TheSlyRomano said I think forcing and training yourself to allow yourself to take a break even if you don't want to can really help; as strange as it sounds I think it's something that takes practice to get good at (taking a break I mean). Easier said than done though so I appreciate the hardship.

On heading to the studio, while things are feeling overwhelming maybe just take some time to play around and experiment rather than produce with the goal of heading towards a finished product. Jam and make silly things just for the lols, or try something completely out of your comfort zone with no pressure of it having to be released at all. It took me a while to realise that not everything we make/do needs to be shared but it's a super liberating feeling when you find it. I hope that helps a bit and hope you're feeling refreshed soon. We're rooting for you over on Newgrounds until you're ready to go full swing again! Take care :)

Thanks! I've been thinking about taking a break over the last month but couldn't bring myself to do it. I always want to make something and make it sound good, and then when I start doing it, it feels so bland. So yeah, I'm definitely going to be taking a break. Thanks for your support and your kind message! Much appreciated <3

@DiceyStep No worries at all :) Hope you feel refreshed soon and see you around the grounds when you're back to it :) No rush!

@DiceyStep I recommend listening to these Odetari songs: GOOD LOYAL THOTS, I PEEP, DOOR TO DUSK, GMFU, YOU'RE TOO SLOW, KEEP UP, I LOVE YOU HOE, HYPNOTIC DATA.

I can't go into too much detail about your musical tastes since this is a general overview (since I haven't listened to your music, and I'll do so right now), but it might help you explore new genres or get inspired, for example!
